London Ale Trail April 2009

The Dick Whittington Ale Trail around pubs of London has proven a very popular feature since being incorporated into the pre-game rituals before England matches at Wembley. With days off for McCarthy, Lloyd and Jones thanks to the Easter holiday, we decided to take things a step further by completing an entire trail as well as some other pubs, in a mammoth 13 pint marathon

 

The day begins in Wetherspoons London Victoria, where naturally beer and burger was on the cards Jones uses a ludicrous amount of mustard on his

McCarthy enjoys his burger Coors Light was the first drink of the day due to its light qualities

The London Eye comes into view As does Robin van Persies house

Ye Olde Watling is pub two of the day - and the first of the Ale Trail The Golden Fleece is pub three
Old Speckled Hen was the tipple of choice here Pub four is Williamson's Tavern, were sandwiches and prawns were consumed

Jones visits St Pauls Cathedral for the first time Lloyd pulls off a Hogan

Lloyd looks worryingly happy to have his photo taken with two small, naked children The Ale Trail proper begins, as we follow the Theatreland Route, with nine pubs to complete. Pub five for the day is The Bear and Staff
Pub six becomes De Hems Dutch Cafe Lloyd is not happy, as his round totals £12.90, and was consisted of purely strong continental lager
McCarthy enjoys his Dutch strawberry beer Pub seven for the day is The Cambridge

Pub eight is The Porcupine We were unable to find the muffin man on Drury Lane

Pub nine is The While Lion, where Lloyd recieved his five pub stamps achieved t-shirt. McCarthy and Jones were denied theres as the bar made refused to hand one over following the purchasing of Strongbow's T-shirts for McCarthy and Jones were finally achieved in pub ten, The Opera Tavern

Pub eleven was The Wellington, where Jones unfortunately left his t-shirt Pub twelve was The Coal House, in which McCarthy managed to convince the bar man to hand over four stamps, meaning Jones only required one more to gain a replacement t-shirt
Jones and McCarthy complete the day with their thirteenth pint, with another t-shirt secured We catch the tube from Embankment back to Victoria
Proud owners of Ale Trail t-shirts Jones looks ridiculously happy to be at such a prestigious station as Embankment
The day ends with a Burger King consumed in true tramps style, namely on the floor at Victoria
