GILLINGHAM - TUESDAY 20/02/07

An up turn in form sees Brighton go to their former home ground of the Priestfield Stadium, Gillingham in good mood. Having pulled away from the drop zone, and now in the top half of the table, Dean Wilkins team would be looking to complete the double over the Gills and make what would be an extremely unlikely move towards the play-off places
Mode of Transport: Neil Kane lead today's trip to Gillingham, as the Kane Mobile was used to transport the Crocs
Team: Mr Wilkins kept with his 4-4-2 system, with only one change to the side: FLInDers, El-Abd, Butters, Lynch, Rents; Ward, Bertin, Hammond, Cox; Savage, Gatting
Kit: Gillingham wore their home kit of all blue with white trim, while Brighton went for their away jerseys of white shirts, coupled with the away combination of white shorts and stockings. On-loan Palace keeper Scott Flinders returned a bit of fashion to the goal, choosing the aqua and gold jersey coupled with navy blue shorts and the return of the navy blue socks
Dean Wilkins Attire: Dean chose to wear his now-famous dark blue tracksuit, trench coat and white dancing shoes
Weather: A night full of average temperatures for the time of year, while fog was also present on the banks of the River Medway
Stadium Rating: The Priestfield has changed significantly since the days when it was home to Brighton, and this was largely due to the extortionate rent paid by the Seagulls throughout their two year tenure. It is now an all seated stadium, with a large main stand and one largish seated end behind the goal. One small stand is all that remains from the Albion days, while the away end is now a "Withdean" effort of temporary seating with no roof. 6/10
Food Rating: The rubber penis effort was once again on show, and McCarthy and Kane were both presently surprised with what they received. Rumble however was not due to the lack of vegetarian options on offer, in particular cheese and onion pasties. 6/10
Entertainment: Nothing was on offer to entertain the fans, despite the best efforts of the mascot, a giant horse called "Tommy True Blue". 2/10
Friendliness of Locals: Gillingham is renowned for its sheer pikiness, and this was never any more in evident with the amount of burbery-hatted people wandering the streets, and in particular one girl whom we met in a kebab shop, who at no more than 15 was a mother to one unruly child and wore enough make-up to single handedly keep the local Superdrug open. 2/10
Standard of Local Females: See above - if you wanted a women who would get into bed quicker than you could say "Syphilis" then this was the place to be. 1/10
Steward Rating: Generally friendly, and allowed people to just get on with watching the game. 7/10
Flag Attention: Due to Potters ineptness, the flag was left in the boot of the Kane Mobile
Match Report: Bas Savage was booed with every touch of the ball as he returned to former club Gillingham, but it was the big striker who had the last laugh in netting the only goal of the game to give the Albion their third straight win over their former land lords. A gritty performance saw them hold onto the three points, despite Gillingham dominating the second half and deserving a point out of the game
Thought of the Day: One fan complained to Rumble at half time about the amount of songs about Bas Savage being sung, to which Kane responded: "What are they singing, Bas Savage is a black bastard?"
