HULL CITY - SATURDAY 20/08/2005

2 points out of a possible 9 wasn't really the start Brighton would of wanted to the season. The first Crocs on Tour match saw the team travel to Hull, the marvelous KC Stadium, as they took on ex-Albion manager Peter Taylor's newly promoted side, including an overnight stay in Scunthorpe the Friday before the game
Mode of Transport: The Witham Mobile was used for the journey, as we traveled up on Friday night to stay in Scunthorpe, before taking the short journey to Hull on the Saturday
Team: A 4-4-2 line up of: Henderson, Dodd, McShane, Butters, Reid, Robinson, Carpenter, Oatway, Knight, Hammond, Kazim-Richards
Kit: Hull were in the home kit of gold and black stripes, black shorts and gold sticking, while Brighton wore their Argentinean home kit of blue and white stripes, white shorts and white stockings. Wayne Henderson went for an unorthodox but stylish grey goalkeepers kit with pink trim
Mark McGhee's Attire: Mr McGhee chose to wear a dark blue shirt, blazer and tight fitting trousers. It was also evident he had a black tie on at some point in the game
Weather: Despite it raining on the Friday, the game was blessed with bright sunshine and warmth
Stadium Rating: The Kingston Communications Stadium is wonderful arena, a light year away from Boothferry Park. Nice and modern, it is entirely enclosed, with one two tiered main stand, and the rest being single tiered. A good atmosphere is generated, and a fine view guaranteed. 8/10
Food Rating: The Hotdogs looked and smelt delicious, but no food was consumed by the team before the game, as McCarthy and Kane went for an over-priced pint at £3
Entertainment: Very little was offered before the game, but during the interval a small sided soccer game was put on between two of Hull's center of excellence teams, at under 9 level. It was a fine display of football, and on that performance many of those lads would walk into the Brighton team. The music on offer was also well suited, if not a little loud. 6/10
Friendliness of Locals: A mixed bag really. Before the game we met a particularly nice Tigers fan who directed us towards the ground, and we spoke at length with him over their new ground and the troubles with Falmer. We also met a friendly and helpful programme seller. However, in the flip side we received a large amount of homophobic abuse, which of course we don't mind but it certainly tarnishes the reputation of the locals. 5/10
Standard of Local Females: Very few females were on offer from a Hull perspective, which was disappointing. The ones viewed though did appear to be dogs. 2/10
Steward Rating: Birks. They ejected several people before kick off, and then ejected another one for standing at the back. He wasn't so much ejected, more like thrown down the steps. It could've ended up being very nasty, and the police were the ones who just wanted to prove they were hard. Not impressive at all. 2/10
Flag Attention: No flag was present again, a situation that we hope to address by the Leeds game
Match Report: Brighton were poor again for the third game running, and lost the midfield battle. Hull opened the scoring before half time, as Leon Knight was tackled and proceeded to make a meal out of it as always, allowing the Tigers to break and score. With Mark McCammon introduced for the second half, the Albion went forward a lot more and looked the more dangerous side, and maybe should of nicked a point. However, Hull broke again, and Ben Burgess, who has torn Brighton apart in the past for Brentford, was on hand to make it 2-0 and seal a first 3 points of the season for Peter Taylor's mean
Thought of the Day: We pondered over the idea of a bottomless drink, and surely it was not possible, as if it was bottomless it would never reach the top, therefore being impossible to drink
