| Millwall
- the setting for that illustrious movie
Football Factory. Would there be a better match
to potentially end the Crocs on Tour 2005-2006
season than in 'bandit country', down 'deep
sarf' with a trip to the New Den. With both
sides struggling at the bottom, and defeat for
Brighton virtually consigning the team to League
One, the Crocs on Tour were hoping that today, 6
months after the season began, they would see
their first away victory of the season |
| Mode
of Transport: |
It
was another cheap offer, this time we each paid
£6.25 for the honor of traveling on First
Capital Connect (formerly known as Thameslink)
to London Bridge, then a quick train journey to
South Bermondsey |
| Team: |
Mark
pleased and amused the Crocs by playing a flair
4-3-3 formation, with the players: Henderson, El
Abd, Hinshlewood, McShane, Lynch; Hammond,
Carpenter, Reid; Hart, Noel-Williams,
Kazim-Richards |
| Kit: |
Millwall
wore all blue with white trim, while Brighton
went for the away colours of maroon, maroon,
maroon. Wayne Henderson again chose his
tour-de-France jersey of yellow with white and
black trim, complemented successfully by black
shorts and stockings |
| Mark
McGhee's Attire: |
Yet
again, Mr McGhee chose the seemingly lucky
combination of grey shirt, brown tie, black
blazer and trousers on his return to his former
club |
| Weather: |
Sunshine
ripped through the capital, with a hint of wind
around the air |
| Stadium
Rating: |
A
fine footballing arena, that although quite
modern has been around long enough to gather
rust on the outside. Different to most new
stadiums, the four stands are separated which
makes it eye-catching. Also the home of
Harchester United, as Dream Team is filmed in
the stadium, the very thought of Karl Fletcher
having been inside this stadium is enough to wet
any sane mans whistle. 8/10 |
| Food
Rating: |
Previous
experiences of food at the Den has been poor,
but this time the steak and kidney pies were
considered of a decent station, if not a little
too hot. 7/10 |
| Entertainment: |
Nothing
on offer, apart from the big screen which was
positioned at somewhat of an awkward angle for
the away end. 2/10 |
| Friendliness
of Locals: |
With
the special path constructed direct from the
away end to South Bermondsey, we had no chance
to mingle with the locals. However, one man we
met around London Bridge was particularly
friendly, although we fear he was on some form
of illegal substance . 6/10 |
| Standard
of Local Females: |
Yet
again, we were unable to mingle with any. 0/10 |
| Steward
Rating: |
No
problem at all, one either directed Tom Stewart
as to where to place his empty can of Murphys as
we got to the stadium entrance . 8/10 |
| Flag
Attention: |
For
the first time in Crocs history, both the
original flag and the pink Seagulled flag were
in evidence. However, with a lack of vacant flag
positions, both Tom Stewart and Scott McCarthy
had to make do with wearing them as
messiah-style cloaks. 4/10 |
| Match
Report: |
Brighton
picked up only their second away win of the
season, and seventh in total with a decent
display against an awful Millwall side. Mr
McGhee's gamble of dropping captain Guy Butters,
and playing with 3 forwards paid off, as early
goals from the recalled Paul Reid and Paul
McShane were enough to give the Albion a vital 3
points, which means that the Lions are now
within sight of McGhee's men |
| Thought
of the Day: |
While
on the train, Tom Witham pondered the question
of "I wonder what it would be like to sleep
with a transvestite. How would they take
it?" |
