QUEENS PARK RANGERS - SATURDAY 01/01/2005

IMAGES

Christmas is one of the busiest times in the footballing calendar. Brighton completed there 3rd game in 6 days in the place that appears in the Only Fools and Horses closing credits, Shepard's Bush. We didn't find any Trevor Francis Tracksuits though, but a trip to Loftus Road was good enough for McCarthy and Witham
Mode of Transport: The Costa Express was the only way to travel, and we decided to Mount John for this game, and a relatively short journey to West London
Team: A 4-4-2 line up of: Kuipers, Reid, Hinshlewood, Butters, Mayo, Hart, Oatway, Carpenter, Harding, Virgo, McCammon
Kit: QPR were in the traditional home jerseys of blue and white hoops, white shorts and white stockings, while Brighton wore there all yellow away kit, and Michel Kuipers chose a festive red number in goal
Mark McGhee's Attire: The usual suit, with what appeared to be a dark blue shirt underneath. However, due to the bitterness of the afternoon, he decided to wear an overcoat of his usual black anorach
Weather: Chilly weather on this new years day, and light drizzle also fell during the game
Stadium Rating: Loftus Road is a fine footballing arena. The stadium maybe old and decrypted, but the fact that the stadium is fully enclosed means there's a great atmosphere. With the fans being close to the pitch, it is wonderful as well, especially when Kevin Gallen went flying over the advertising boards into the stand. 8/10
Food Rating: Burgers outside the ground went down well, although they weren't quite the ones Wolves offer at a bargain £1. Inside the ground, pies were purchased. They were simply foul, and as warm as an ice cube. 1/10
Entertainment: Nothing was on offer at all. We had to make-do with taking random photos of random fans to keep ourselves entertained. Disappointing, to see the least. 1/10
Friendliness of Locals: This being London, we were looking for some friendly market traders. Alas, there were none around. The man in the burger mobile was rather pleasant though. 4/10
Standard of Local Females: No noticable female QPR fans were wandering around the ground, which was rather upsetting. 1/10
Flag Attention: Tom Stewart did not make today's trip, so the flag was at home
Match Report: Brighton continued their unbeaten run, now stretching to 3 games with a 0-0 draw. QPR hit the woodwork 3 times, and the ball was cleared off the line twice, but it was a well-earned point for the Albion, Charlie Oatway nearly getting a winner with a glancing header after Paul Furlong was sent off for the home side
Thought of the Day: Building from a previous thought of a circle of men doing each other from behind, we discussed the prominence of a figure of 8, and how the joining part would have to be tightly constructed
