FUNDRAISER RACE NIGHT - SATURDAY 22/01/2005

IMAGES

The Alive and Kicking Fund was set up to provide the club with some much needed income. So far it has raised a lot. OK, I'm not sure exactly how much, but its quite a bit. The lovely Liz Costa decided to help swell the coffers by organising a race night at Brighton Racecourse - races were shown live on the big screen, which you were able to bet on. It just wouldn't be racing without McCarthy and Witham in the arena
Mode of Transport: Journeyed via the medium of an Automobile, with Tommy Mac at the wheel to the real home of race horsing
Team: It was a basic 1-1 formation. The round table surface didn't allow for our usual slick passing game, so we settle for Witham up-front with McCarthy at the back
Kit: None was used for the evening
Mark McGhee's Attire: Mark McGhee was not present at the evenings events, but Chief-Executive Martin Perry was there, wearing a blue shirt, combined with black blazer and trousers. He also had a dashing tie on, although we were unsure of the motif
Weather: Rain lashed down on the arena, even turning into sleet at one point, with a chilling wind
Stadium Rating: A comftable and suitable hall within the building. Some views were obstructed, but generally well received. 7/10
Food Rating: The hotdogs tasted of rubber, and the burgers contained onions not even partially cooked. A poor effort. 2/10
Entertainment: Superb. Liz Costa being there made the night as thrilling as it could really of been, and with an interactive game of 'Play your cards right', the evening was complete. Not forgetting the Liverpool man who ran the racing, and just had people laughing at his accent. 9/10
Friendliness of Locals: Very friendly. Although this was not surprising seeing as they were all Brighton fans. Although a small pocket of Charlton fans were also present, but they were also pleasant. 10/10
Standard of Local Females: None really worth any credit were present at this event. Although there was a high standard of men. 2/10
Flag Attention: None. Tom Stewart was not present
Match Report: One of the best performances of the year. You don't expect to go to a fundraiser and make a profit, but this was the case, as Witham and McCarthy walked out with a cool £12 after spending £8 on the evening. Pick of the winners was the one we back at 10/1
Thought of the Day: A particularly nice barman was there, whom we decided to call 'Clive'. It could only be: "Can you imagine Clive and Liz Costa at it on the bar"
