Saturday
22nd August 2009 & Sunday 23rd August 2009
A stressful
Saturday was spent on the journey to London Luton airport, which thanks
to engineering works meant lugging suitcases onto the underground in
trains packed with Arsenal fans heading off to watch their game at the
Emirates. Despite feeling desperately hungover in the case of Jones and
McCarthy following a heavy night on the tiles, Luton was eventually
reached, and our Easyjet plane suffered no malfunctions as we arrived in
Bordeaux at around 10.30pm local time

Sunday was our first full
day in France, and what better way to spend it than by taking in a
soccerball game at the home of the French champions, Bordeaux. The home
side were taking on Nice on what can best be described as a ludicrously
hot day of around 35 degrees. A few beers beforehand were followed by an
excellent game of football, as Bordeaux ran out 4-0 winners in a highly
charged atmosphere. The evening was spent enjoying a BBQ and more beers
as well as a dip in the swimming pool due to the boiling hot day that
had been experienced
