It was hot, there
were fish and chips - and cricket. With Ian Simpson not playing, the game was
set at a much more even keel, as Kevin Ticehurst looked to pull the series back
to 1-1. He started well, winning the toss and electing to put McCarthy's men
into field

For the second
game running the extras piled up ridiculously high - this time 90 runs came from
the extras column. 157 is a fantastic score for this form of the game, and
McCarthy knew without Simpson in his batting lineup they would struggle to
score. Pick of the bowlers was Bob Ticehurst, taking 2-18

Ticehurst's men
did the business bowling, as they restricted their opponents to only 118, Peter
Chapman making 22. It was a fine win for Ape, as he bought the series back to
1-1

SCOTT
McCARTHY: "It wasn't a good performance for us. Our bowling was
really abysmal - giving away 90 in extras is as comical as a beaver
wearing a fez. Bob Ticehurst has come in with his experience and helped
our players on, but his performance was not enough on its own. I was
pleased to nearly get a hat-trick, and feel that although Kev has won
this game, their is only one real winner on a day like this, and that is
the game is cricket. Seeing so many people having fun is what it's all
about, regardless of the result" |

KEVIN
TICEHURST: "I am delighted to be proud of my winning side, and
to get this series back to 1-1 is a great achievement. The extras
weren't good, but we will look at that in the nets. We batted well, and
me and Bert had a good partnership at the end. Getting out by my Dad was
not my greatest achievement, but I'm happy Bert did well. I'm proud to
be part of this great team, and hopefully we can wrap up this series in
the next fixture to finish an all round great summer" |
