SCOTTS SECRET DIARY

Bridget Jones did it, Samuel Peeps did it, Adrian Mole did it - now Scott McCarthy does it. A diary is a great way of sharing thoughts, feelings and actions from a persons life. And straight out of McCarthy Towers comes this diary. Experience the highs, lows, the laughs, the tears, everything that happens - right here!

APRIL 2004

Monday 26/04/2004

Good Evening. It has been an absolutely wonderful weekend. Friday was a bit of a disappointment, with a Marle Place defeat. But that was made up for with a trip to see Mr Steven Denver after the game. See the Marle Place section for more!

Saturday was a trip to Bristol, where Brighton played excellently to secure a 0-0 draw with Bristol City, which is a massive point towards the play offs, which with any luck (although Brighton being Brighton it won't happen) a trip to the Millennium Stadium.

And Sunday was a fantastic day. Started in the morning with a fine Southdown Rovers performance, losing only 2-0 to County League Youth side Hassocks. Then it was off go-karting with the team, where I put in a performance that resembled Jarno Truli. And finally, the evening finished with a trip to the Asian Rose curry house, where a few (cough cough) beers where enjoyed by the team as well as a delightful meal. Fantastic stuff. Here are some photos from the Hassocks match:

Here I am,  looking forward to an exciting game of football Hassocks are on the attack as Rovers defend
A cross is easily gathered in front of the Cricket King and star centre back Ian Simpson I send a kick up field, with the Jack and Jill windmills in the background
And I take a goal kick, with an enthusiastic crowd behind the goal at The Beacon Chris Johnson, Matt McDonald, Ian and myself wait for the delivery from a throw-in
Here's me, ready to be called into action at any moment I get ready to launch another long kick up the park, as Ian moves up the pitch
A corner is swung in from Hassocks, as the Rovers defence prepare to clear Here's me, bored in the second half

And here I am again, with nothing to do!

An inset day today from school. Spent 3 hours over the pub, enjoying a few games of pool and a nice meal of Ham, Egg, and Chips. During a football match yesterday I sustained a strain in my side, so this morning I decided to apply some Deep Heat to it. However, I got slightly carried away, and ended up setting it on fire. It burned so much it was unbelievable, but like a real 'hard' man I took the pain

Enjoyed a game of football/cricket this evening with Mr Peter Chapman, Mr Bert Lloyd and Mr Jamie Farhall. When playing cricket in the boys club car park, I hit a superb cover drive down the off side for four. Unfortunately,  the ball got stuck in the the guttering of the roof. After a 10 minute struggle to retrieve the ball, Chappers decided to climb the steel crash barrier, and jump onto the roof and grab the ball. He took off, and flew majestically through the air, like a flying frog. He reached his hand into the gutter, and plucked the ball using 3 fingers from the muddy depth of this gutter, and landed, 2 footed on the ground, before revealing a shimmer green ball clutched in the palm of his hand. Magical stuff!

Had a wonderful time yesterday. See the BIG DAY OUT for more. There could be the possibility of a Burgess Hill Uncovered - Mac Industries Cricket Invitational Twenty20 match this summer. Please contact either myself or Mr Chapman if you would be interested in playing.

And finally, myself and Sailor were mentioned in the Middy this week. It was wondrous, possibly one of the greatest thrills of my life, apart from maybe the wonderful exhibition I went to on Train Timetables of the 1930's. Gripping stuff!

Just spent today preparing for the pretty much confirmed Big Day Out this Friday. Can't wait!

Here is possibly the best website, apart from this one and all our partners, on the whole damn web. Check it out, and have fun! CLICK HERE

Half term is great! On Friday, there was reports of a gorilla lose in Burgess Hill. Myself, Bert Lloyd and Jamie Farhall headed out in the Chap Mobile to check these reports. Any people on the ski trip will have seen a gorilla chasing the coaches, as will people in St Johns Park. Check out the new Gorilla Attacks page for details.

There may be a big day out coming this Friday, but you'll have to wait and see about that. 90% certain to happen!

Today was the annual Withdean Open Day, where young Brighton supporters get to meet the players from the super Seagulls. Here are the pictures that will be put into the McCarthy Towers photo album for future years:

Hello people. This week is the Easter Holidays. Happy days. I've sat on my arse and done bugger. Wait, thats not true, I have actually crossed to the Weal for my lunch and a game of pool. I won the recent eating contest between myself and Kevin 'The Ape' Ticehurst - I managed a massive 11 slizes from the Pizza Hut buffet, while he could only manage 9 and a half. A 2 hour walk though got rid of it, as we took the extremely long way back from Brighton to Portslade. Talking of Apey, myself and him may well be heading to the Oval next Friday for the opening game of the 2004 Frizzel County Championship. The champions of Sussex take on the Man United of the cricket world, Surrey. The camera may well be going as well! On todays boring afternoon in the office, I indulged in a game of Minesweeper Flags with Steph Conway. I'm now bloody addicted to it. This is not as serious as my drug addiction with Halls Soothers, but I fear it may restrict website updates, so please bear with me!

After a long and hard search, we have recently vastly improved the entertainment facilities at McCarthy Towers. A copy of the fantastic Beatles album Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club has been purchased, as well as a Formula One game for the Megadrive. But pride of place, after nearly a year of searching comes the game that has been craved for: Aladdin! Control Aladdin through 11 or so levels or desert fun. The greatest game ever made for any console. We finally found it, and bought if for a bargain £7.99.

By the way, after over a months wait, my dodgy fingernail has just come off! About bloody time!

What a day yesterday was! Wednesday night myself, Chris and Chappers had a fantastic time doing April Fools stuff. You can see it all here. Yesterday was the Year 11 Social Evening, and despite not having anything vaguely sorted till 5pm on the day of the event, just 3 hours before we were due to go on, we managed to pull it off. Myself and Sailor had a light sabre battle, did a Russian dance and he sung to Titanic while I danced around in a dress with a mop. It was brilliant stuff, and everyone had a great time. If anyone has any pictures of the events they wouldn't mind sharing with us, then please get in contact!

Tonight is another Marle Place match, and I shall let you know how we got on later!
