Tuesday 31/08/04Happy days! 6 points out of 6 this weekend for Brighton, and we're back on track! College starts Friday, which means this will be getting updated more as I will be doing more rather than sitting on my arse all day. Or as the case was today going to Brighton. Thursday is cricket - the last day-night game of the season for the barmy army, so we're going in style - fancy dress and as much beer as we can carry! The first month of the premiership season is over, and the table is shaping up to how it will finish already: Arsenal top, Palace bottom! However, the fantasy league is far from over. At the end of the first month, the table looks like this:
Jamie Jones sits proudly at the top of the table with 'Come on Newcastle', while Kev Ticehurst is in 2nd with 'Ape United'. Chris Traylen lies in 3rd with 'Flash Gordon Fantastico', Ian Simpson's 'Simmos Select' is in 4th, and completing the top 5 is Tom Stewart with 'Bearded XI'. However, its early days yet, and the Euro 2004 crown wasn't decided until the last day - when Greece took the title meaning my super side took the crown. While travelling the net, I stumbled across this fantastic game that tests hand-eye co-ordination. It is well worth a go for all you bored people out there, of which there is many. CLICK HERE to play it! Thursday 26/08/04Well, my commitment to update this more often has gone out of the window. The summer holidays closes in around us, as I prepare myself for the thought of college. It will be strange not going to Oakmeeds, especially not marrauding round at lunch time taking pictures, rolling down stairs and playing chess. The fabulous entertaining lunches are over, as myself and partner in crime Mr Chris Traylen have gone our separate ways: him to BHASVIC, me to Haywards Heath. However, having just got off the phone to Sailor, we know that this move has massive potential. The word from former Oakmeeds students could be spread to other colleges, meaning more visitors. It is an opportunity we cannot afford to miss, and we will soon be re-structuring the company with new people coming in in new roles. Having propelled Sailor to greatness with his now famous selection, we will be selecting one lucky person to promote and enhance in the coming academic year. Myself and Sailor have discussed the people who we feel have the right application for it - and we will look to make an announcement soon. It means another addition to the 'regular columns' - so keep your eyes peeled This summer has been productive. Crocs on Tour was developed, we had our first outing, the first BBQ, the Sussex Barmy Army was born and we helped BHU with many innitiatives. We also designed a new front, but are still waiting to complete it. The Star Wars movie was shelved due to complications with the cast and the fact that the script never got written. Well, partly written, but not completely. GCSE results today - I achieved 7 a's, 2 b's and 1 c. Congratulations to Bert, who achieved 5 a*'s and 5 a's - surely the best at Oakmeeds. Keep your eyes peeled on the site - exciting times are a-coming! Monday 15/08/04Today I leave the sunny shores of Burgess Hill, for my annual week away at Ardingly and a whole weeks football! It shall be exciting, and I will let you know how it went when I return on Friday. Anyway, it has been a busy past week at McCarthy Towers. Monday I played for Hassocks against St Francis, and we lost 3-1. Tuesday another webcam was produced and can be viewed on the site. Wednesday myself and Kevin 'The Ape' Ticehurst went to Lords to watch Sussex v Middlesex, and that will be a Big Day Out when I return and can be bothered to do it. Thursday Ape stayed here and we drew 2-2 on pool over the pub, and Friday myself, Bert and Jamie Jones played cricket in the nets. Jamie got quite aggitated with my defensive shots, and him not being able to get me out. Friday night I stayed up till 1am watching Recess on the Disney Channel. Saturday it was off to fortress Withdean to see Brighton draw 1-1 with Coventry, and Sunday it was another game for Hassocks, this time a 2-0 defeat to Three Bridges. And that is all I have developed a fetish for Lizzie McGuire as well. That programme is one of the best ever made. The whole of the Disney Channel network has gone down in the Mac Towers 'favorites' on Sky. With the arrival of Olympics, look out for the Burgess Hill Olympics, which will be coming soon. All competitors wishing to take part let me know. This will be no Mickey Mouse competition either. It is a serious challenge. The Premiership has also now begun, and we will keep you updated on the Fantasy League at the end of each month, as I, the great Scott McCarthy attempt to defend my Euro 2004 crown. The futures looking bright! Sunday 08/08/04Right. Everybody's favourite magician Andy Cole talked me into setting up a new on-line journal, similar to his and Chapman. I will probably update this every day, so if you want to hear more remarkable tales from McCarthy Towers add it to your favorites. It can be found HERE. Alongside the journal, I have decided to update this more often, like I used to in the good old days. It's a sort of new years resolution, even though we're in August. So, I am vowing to update this more often Right, down to business. Tomorrow night I make my Hassocks debut. We are facing St Francis Rangers at the Beacon, 7.30pm kick off for anyone interested. Anyway, great excitement at McCarthy Towers today. The fan in the main office caught fire! I had come out of the shower, and detected a potent burning smell. I looked round, and realised the fan was on fire. Diving under the desk I removed the plug. Only it wasn't the fan plug, it was the radio one. I dived under again, removed the right one and hit my head. However, I was not bothered, I had saved the Towers from a possible fire. Surely an act worthy of the Victoria Cross at least? Thursday 05/08/04It has been a busy past week at McCarthy Towers. On Friday, myself and Kevin 'The Ape' Ticehurst enjoyed a trip to Thorpe Park. It was damn good fun, and the 'ride photos' we purchased are below. Due to be constantly pissed off by the Fresservers hosting we were on, I have now moved the site to a new host, which will also allow for more storage space. Eventually everything will be moved to this new host, but it is just a case of when I can be bothered to do it On Tuesday, the first ever Crocs on Tour thing took place. We made the journey to the Dripping Pan for Brighton against Lewes. All the action can be seen on the new Crocs on Tour page. It was a most enjoyable evening. I'm sure there's more stuff I should be reporting but I really cannot remember it. Anyway, here are the photos from Thorpe Park:
Heres us on Colossus. Its the worlds first 10 looping roller coaster, which means its a roller coaster with 10 loops in it, and makes you feel very ill after eating. Apey is attempting the famous McCarthy pose, but he hasn't quite got it yet, although it was a challenge to pull off
Next was No Way Out. It is a backwards roller coaster in the dark, which made it damn exciting as you can't see where you're going! Apey gets the pose right this time, and myself, wearing a very dashing burger king hat, is mesmerized by the strobe lighting
Finally, its tidal wave. One of Europes highest drop water rides, it plummets down from 85 feet, meaning you get very very very wet. Ape was not happy on this ride, as the two particularly fine looking ladies next to us paid him no attention, deciding instead to focus their attention on everyone's favourite minor celebrity. He took his anger out, but strangling me on the way |
