Friday 31/12/04Well people, my busiest time of the year is now nearly over. With just 6 hours to the new year, I have fulfilled all my engagements, and will make my final appearance tonight, as promised, at a small, private party in Worthing. Unfortunately this means I will not be at Mrs Carina McCarthy's party, but to all those who are attending I wish them a good time, and sorry to disappoint so many of my fans who were going in the hope of seeing me. The past few days have been quiet - Wednesday was spent leisurely, playing football with Mr Kieran Elliott of Mierosoft, his brother Liam and Mr Bert Lloyd. It was a fine kick about, and good to see that McCarthy was back to his Hristov Stoichkov-esque best. Thursday was spent spending, as myself and Ali Mac ventured to Brighton and the sales, picking up many bargains, including, joy of joys, a new, vibrant pink shirt. I also picked up a pink t-shirt, which was extremely arousing. And today was spent leisurely as well - this time I enjoyed a kick about with Mr Elliott again, and we were joined by Mark Love y'all, brother of Adam Love y'all. Carina joined us later on, after McCarthy had promised to buy her lunch. However, it was only when he checked his wallet that the total within my wallet consisted of a Library Card, an NUS Card, a train ticket to Brighton, a Thorpe park entry ticket and a Brighton and Hove Bus Ticket for the Downs Loop. Unfortunately, it was a brief date, as I walked her home, and returned to the Towers, ready for this evenings engagement I have also been receiving mystery texts recently, from someone called Becky in Essex. However, she does not know she is texting a minor celebrity, oh no, she is under the impression she is in contact with an illegal immigrant by the name of Abdul Jabba Nabel or something like that. The fully story and texts are HERE, via the Underground Grapevine All that remains is to wish each and every fan a wonderfully prosperous 2005 - may it bring as much joy, success and fun to you as I'm sure it will to me. And look out for McCarthy's Legendary Fashion Guide - 2005 edition, coming soon! Wednesday 29/12/04Christmas was a fabulous occasion this year at the Towers. Christmas Eve was spent among fans, as both of Burgess Hill's Minor Celebrities attended Midnight Mass at St Edwards Church. It was an exciting event, and despite me not being the most religious person in the world, it was bloody good fun. However, if terrorist's had of struck the church, Burgess Hill would've crumbled. Not only were its 2 Minor Celebrities in the building, but also Martin Jupp, the owner of Jupps fish and chips. Imagine, all 3 of us killed. The town would be in mourning for years. The service was a good opportunity to give my singing voice and airing, and so I did. McCarthy and Chapman's fans were understandably delighted to see them there, as many people came up to us and shook our hands, proclaiming 'Peace with You'. It was a moving affair, although Chapman decided we should not take up the offer of the free bread and wine available, as we didn't have a clue what you do in Holly Communion Christmas day saw the visit of family to the Towers. Head Chef Alison McCarthy was busy as always in the kitchens, and we enjoyed a delightful meal in the Drawing Room, consisting of traditional Turkey, with an assortment of vegetables and other accessories. My charity work, which has seen me humorously dubbed the Nelson Mandela of Burgess Hill, has not gone unnoticed this year, as Santa left an assortment of gifts under the tree. Most important of all though was the new digital camera, one with which zooming is actually possible, after the zoom button fell out of the old camera. It will come in very handy in the future one feels Boxing Day it was off to Withdean, where Brighton beat Gillingham 2-1. Sailor, as a Gills fan, would not be happy - this is the second time the mighty Seagulls have beaten his time this season, and I reminded him constantly via the medium of a textual message. Monday saw the visit of some acquaintances to the Towers, so we therefore spent the majority of the day in the Weald, playing pool. These acquaintances did happen to comment on the Burgess Hill's very own version of Band Aid, another complimentary comment made about that fine production. The visit was most notable for another reason though, as McCarthy caught photographic evidence confirming that John Lennon is alive and well, living these days in Goring: Yesterday, myself and Tom Witham journeyed to Wolverhampton, were Brighton drew 1-1 with Wolves. In the evening, I managed to achieve a fantastic achievement, after taking Bristol City into the Championship at the end of season 2006-2007 on Football Manager 2004-2005. Here is the table, and look where Brighton are, that will teach Dick Knight to sack me!
Friday 24/12/04Christmas is nearly here, and Burgess Hill's very own Minor Celebrities will be spreading the love tonight. That is right, myself and Mr Peter Chapman will be in attendance at St Edwards Church Midnight Mass. I have never been to a church service before that wasn't associated with a school, so to say I'm not aroused about the whole thing would be a lie. Yes, no matter how 'uncool' it may be to go to church, I am actually looking forward to it. Not as much as the people who are going to be there will be though, when they see not one, but two Minor Celebrities walk through the door. It will be sheer bliss. Wednesday was the Burgess Hill Uncovered Staff Christmas Outing. Myself, Mr Chapman and the Offices Cleaner made the journey to the Brighton Centre to see the Bootleg Beatles. This tribute band were on fine form - there was little difference between them and the real Beatles. As the show progressed, so did the Beatles. From humble beginnings in traditional suits, through to Sergeant Pepper costumes, and finally, all in different costumes. It was a fabulous show, wrapped up with 2 of my personal favourite Beatle songs - Hey Jude, and Let it Be. All the songs were classics though, and it was a fine way to celebrate Christmas. Pictures available now on the Big Day Out page Today I dropped in on Kev 'The Ape' Ticehurst's 18th Birthday Celebrations. He was delighted to be spending the day with his favourite Minor Celebrity. However, I missed out on the trip to the pub with him, as I had to return and do my Nelson Mandela of Burgess Hill duties - namely giving out presents to close associates. They were delighted with them no doubt Seeing as this is the last diary entry before the big day, which is now 2 hours away, may I take this opportunity to wish all you listeners, and all your families a very Merry Christmas. God Bless you all Tuesday 21/12/04Sunday was marvelous. Mrs Carina McCarthy hosted the party, of which I was present. Many people had come just to see me, which was simply marvelous. After many handshakes, it shaped up to being a very dry party. But I proved my tag of the Nelson Mandela of Burgess Hill to be true, after going to the off-license and purchasing alcohol for everyone. Well, I didn't purchase it, my good friend Silent Pete did with his brothers ID, but the gesture was there for one and all to see. Previously to the party, Marle Place beat Mierosoft for the second time in a week, although this time it was a closer affair, the match finishing 12-6. McCarthy was voted man of the match, and wrapped up the victory with a goal. Although in the match I received an extremely nasty injury. At first I feared this blow to my little finger could lead to my arm being amputated, such was the travesty of the problem. But contrary to first fears, it was merely dislocated, and popped back into place with no trouble at all. Nevertheless, I would like to thank all you fans for the thousands of get well cards that have arrived at the Towers over the past few days, especially to the one fan who even sent in some home made brownies. I love you all Despite the severity of this injury to my finger, I refused the aid of crutches, even heading out in my frail condition. Mrs Carina McCarthy and Miss Emily Benyon where treated to a meal in the bakers, and both where ecstatic at the chance to dine with a Minor Celebrity. Even though I couldn't afford to pay for my meal, as I only revealed after we'd eaten, they were still honored. In the evening it was off to the Seagulls Club Christmas Party - a chance to meet the stars of the might Brighton and Hove Albion team. Of course, all the players were willing to give a photo for Burgess Hills Minor Celebrity, so here are the photos captured:
Sunday 19/12/04I'm too good to you people whom I love and cherish - 2 entries in 3 days. What is wrong? Should I slap myself with a wet fish and realise I never update the diary? No, but to be fair on myself when was the last time the Burgess Hill Uncovered Weblog was updated? When Elvis with alive and well, smoking was healthy and England were World Cup winners in the game of Association Football. Good grief Chapman, sort it out Anyhow, what has happened since Thursday? On Friday Haywards Heath College broke up for the Christmas break. McCarthy gave out more Christmas Cards, and received the customary gift from Sailor. Which reminded me - what can we do to celebrate Jesus birth this year? Possibility of a staff gathering at the Towers to celebrate, although it depends if I can secure the booking of the drawing room, what with all the tourists around these days. Bloody foreigners Saturday myself and Tommy Mac paid a visit to the Salvation Army, where the legendary woman was quite happy to take £17 off me for items I purchased. I was quite happy to give her £17 as well, seeing as it all goes to a good cause. I then gave a treat to all my fans, and myself and Tommy walked round for 3 hours, that's right, 3 hours, delivering cards personally. We covered the whole of town, from the Triangle to Kings way. But someone's got to spread some love this Christmas, it might as well be Burgess Hills Favourite Minor Celebrity. In the evening, McCarthy continued to spread his love, when he took time out of a busy schedule to put in a personal appearance at Sam Kumm's house for a Christmas get-together. The other guests were gob smacked when Burgess Hills Favourite Minor Celebrity turned up at the door, and were even more gob smacked when he decided to stay the night on the floor. It just proves us celebrities are human after all. Today is football for Marle Place in the evening, and then I shall be attending another party to spread love and wish all my fans a very Merry Christmas Thursday 16/12/04My dearest fans, I am so sorry. For it has been a month since I last bothered to update this diary, the one thing that makes your existences worthwhile. I have neglected my duty to you, and for that I sincerely apologise, and hope you can find it in your hearts to forgive me my sins. So, what has happened since the last entry? Bloody loads to be honest. Significantly of all, Band Aid was produced. The one featuring real celebrities from Burgess Hill. Now available via the Christmas Special pages. It was filmed over 2 days, and was a momentous effort by all involved, and the staff at the Towers to get it together in time. Well worth it, a certain Tom Witham even commented that watching it was: "the height of my existence". We are truly honored. The lure of a bachelor Minor Celebrity such as myself has paid off, as after rejecting millions and millions of women over the past months, McCarthy has now settled down with young Carina Garner-Agate. Burgess Hills Minor Celebrity couple are getting along fine, although the press attention received can be a bit annoying Myself, Mr Bert Lloyd, Mr Peter Chapman, Mr Kieran Elliott and Mrs McCarthy recently attended the Oakmeeds Quiz Evening. It was a joyous occasion, where McCarthy shook hands with many teachers yet again, and filmed some marvelous scenes. One such effort will be making up part of the first installment of McCarthy TVs very own music reality show - V-Factor. Hitting your screens in the new year! After reading my year-old diary today, it transpired that last year I did indeed run out of Christmas Cards. No such event this year though - Burgess Hills Favourite Minor Celebrity does not want to disappoint one fan at all. That is why he has stocked up on hundreds of cards. The students of Haywards Heath College were the luckiest ones today - as I traveled round the common room, signing cards in the flesh and giving them out to students in awe of my celebrity status and boyish good looks. One young girl was so overcome she spent the whole politics lesson in a state of shock - then I did the good thing of writing one for her best friend, on the edge of tears I can she was I'd like to conclude this diary entry by welcoming some new fans to the McCarthy Industries phenomena - I have had a number of people commenting on the site in recent weeks, some of whom I have never even met before. This is due to the spreading of the message to the Oathall crew - mainly Simon and Jake from Politics. So to all you Oathall students visiting these days - welcome, and enjoy your stay! |
