ENGLAND V GREECE

After another disappointing World Cup campaign, England were back on home soil for a friendly against reigning European Champions Greece. It was a game of firsts - a first game as manager for Steve McLaren, a first game as captain for John Terry, and most importantly of all a first ever football game for Queen Charlie Humphreys, as she joined the McCarthys for the journey to the Theatre of Dreams, Old Trafford

 

Charlie browses through the Sun, and worryingly takes a long time admiring page 3 It was set out to be yet another romantic occasion, especially with Peter Crouch leading the England front line

We get excitingly close to the stadium We have arrived. The Sir Matt Busby pose is pulled as usual

Charlie seems delighted to be inside her first football stadium And celebrates with a delightful steak and kidney pie along with McCarthy
Old Trafford in all her glory Unfortunately only half the tickets had been sold for the game
It was still a wonderful place to be The England team warm up for the game
The Greeks prepare The Theatre of Dreams was simply devine under lights
Witnessing your first football match in the presence of Scott McCarthy is enough to excite anyone Tommy and Ali Mac look happy
The flags are unveiled to the crowd The teams enter the arena
The national anthems are sung And the St Georges Cross is created as per usual
The teams prepare for battle Peter Crouch awaits a delivery
198cm of pure stallion, leading the line for England 1-0, John Terry with the opener
The Greek keeper had flair grey hair 2-0, Frank Lampard
Crouch is in superb form, as always And rewards the fans with a goal, making it 3-0. He would add another shortly after

England 4-0 up at half time, and it is delight all round The teams emerge for the second half of the game
Peter is back to defend a corner Chris Kirkland was on as a sub for his England debut
And it is all over, 4-0 England being the final result The teams leave the stadium
Old Trafford salute the England team Charlie purchases some mushy peas and chips after the game, and promptly ruins them with ketchup
The young lass is shocked by these northern slums Simply a perfect day
