New Years Day is traditionally an excellent day on the footballing calendar. People harbouring hangovers attempting to recommence drinking and watch a game of football in the freezing cold. With no football league games on this year, it meant that McCarthy, Kane and Jones were forced to uphold the tradition by visiting The Dripping Pan, where a huge Sussex derby was taking place between hosts Lewes and Eastbourne Borough.
