Collin was a product of the famous Southdown Rovers
youth academy. Progressing into the first team at an
early age, Collin soon established himself as one of the
most feared strikers in the Mid Sussex Youth League.
With his long, flowing hair and skillful approach, he
was soon worshipped by the Leylands Park faithful. The
Rovers side flourished under his father Andy Collin, and
with Dan leading the line snapped up every trophy going.
In his time at Leylands Park, he won 2 league titles and
2 league cup winners medals, being voted Man of the
Match in the 1999 final. However, both him and the team
found the step up to the Sussex Sunday League a bridge
too far, and the team, and Collin struggled for form.
With Dan looking for a new start, his old friend Scott
McCarthy offered to bring him to the Triangle in a £2m
deal financed by the sales of Mike Fletcher and Nic
Sparasci. It has proved to be a bargain piece of
business, as Collin has since gone onto establish
himself as the all time record goalscorer for the
Hamsters. His records include top scorer in his first
season at the club with 52 goals, and he followed this
up by once again winning the top scorer award in
2005-2006 with 35 goals, a year in which he also won
Player of the Season. 2006-07 was interrupted by a loan
spell out in New Zealand, but he remained a key player
in the fixtures he was able to take part in
Collin is
a deadly striker, who is guaranteed to find the
net. He makes up for a lack of pace with a fantastic
first touch and ability to read the game, which also
masks his lack of fitness. A move to France means that
Collins Hamsters appearances are going to be less
frequent than in the past, but you can guarantee that
when he does play the Yellow Army are a force to be
reckoned with |
