THE OVAL 2004

The opening day of any sport is always a good one. With Sussex beginning the Frizzell County Championship title defence away at The Oval, Scott McCarthy and Kevin Ticehurst felt it was their duty to go and support the team in Englands capital

Ape looks forward to the day on the train to London McCarthy is expectant of a good day of play
Calm and composed on the Underground to Oval It was an easy journey from London Bridge station
The Oval comes into view Inside this famous cricketing arena
Ape uses his initiative to attach the flag to a security light McCarthy stands by it, on its maiden outing
It would draw the attention of the Sussex team as they came onto the field, leading to waves from Chris Adams and Matt Prior The London Eye can be seen in the distance, between the gas holders
Sussex are into field, and they take their first wicket Then their second
Then their third Chris Adams uses 5 slips for the pace of Mohammed Akram, making his debut
Ape enjoys a jacket potato lunch As does McCarthy
Kev it delighted, as another Surrey wicket falls A six is hit, and Mark Davis and Tim Ambrose have trouble finding the ball in the building site for the Ovals new stand
Robin Martin-Jenkins sends a delivery in Sussex field, and look to finish off the Surrey tail enders
Scott enjoys some Mini Cheddars during the tea break And the Surrey first innings is wrapped up
After the match, we head to Pizza Hut in Leicester Square for an all you can eat challenge Kevin is struggling though, and has to retire from the competition
If McCarthy can finish this off, he will claim victory And he manages it, to finish off a wonderful day in style
