For a long time, Scott McCarthy has had visit Auschwitz on his list of things to do before dying. The most notorious concentration camp of the Nazis, over 1.5m people were killed in the 5 years it was open between 1940-45, mainly through the deadly gas chambers. It is often said that you cannot fully appreciate the sheer scale of what went on without visiting Auschwitz itself, and McCarthy joined Andy Rumble and Tom Witham in putting that theory to the test, as they flew to the Polish town of Katowice for a two night stay.
